Get running with Orpington Road Runners.
​​​If you have considered taking up running but do not know where to start, joining a beginner’s group could be the answer you are looking for. The course runs for 10 weeks with the graduation being held at Orpington parkrun on the Saturday after the last Tuesday session. It is the perfect way to get from zero to 5K, be amongst like-minded individuals and find your running tribe!

Our next Beginners group – Date 29th April 2025
Start time - 19.00
At each session, our qualified coach Helen Twomey and club volunteers will take you through a complete warm up, running techniques and cool down. The sessions will start gently on Green Street Green common, building you up to running for longer without stopping, helping you to gain confidence in navigating the routes around Orpington.

At the end of the course, you will be invited to join the club runs on a Tuesday to continue your running journey. Membership to Orpington Road Runners is as little as *£26 for the year for membership. Membership will give you full access to all club communication via our Facebook group and emails in addition to invitations to social events, voting for our club charity.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Ideally a running top or leggings but if you do not have any then clothing that will not restrict you as you run.
Running shoes are very important, as they provide much needed support for your feet and legs. Comfortable trainers can be worn at the start but we recommend that once you build your confidence, you get properly measured at a specialist shop such as ‘Up and Running’ in Sevenoaks.
