About me – Running has been an integral part of my life since my university days and early morning runs around the fens, this developed into more urban running around the highlights of SE London before moving to Orpington in 2014. I also enjoy rambling and hill walking, attempting to ensure the younger generation recognise the benefits as well, regularly involved in outdoor pursuits programmes and as a Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Assessor. My day job is as a Deputy Head at a school in Croydon having trained originally as a classics teacher at a school in Lee. I have two very energetic dogs – ORR has been great for finding new dog walks – and a baby girl to keep me busy.

What I like about ORR – It really is more than just a running club, it’s an opportunity for like-minded individuals to have a bit of exercise and chat. It is an inclusive group where everybody is welcomed and encouraged – this is rare, so we must make the most of it! Never will you go to Tesco’s and not bump into an Orpie!

Memorable Experience – Mince Pie Run 2017 – atmospheric? Running in a winter storm, losing my shoes, being blown off course by severe winds – but what an experience! Especially the meal in Brighton afterwards. Another great aspect of the club – all Steve Wehrle does to keep us entertained!

Best Result – London Marathon in 2018 – hottest ever and at 4:47 I was pretty happy (and relieved) .
