I started running about 12 years ago, having completed my family and wanting to get fitter. I had started cycling with some very dear friends of mine and one of them suggested that we tried running. I couldn’t run to the end of my road!!

Having never enjoyed sport, I was determined to persevere.  Gradually I was able to increase the distance and a couple of years later I joined Orpington Road runners.  It was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done.

I ran my first half marathon in 2013 and then a full marathon the following year.  I’ve run three since and many other races.

I started TORRchers (double entendre with torture !!), the off road group on a Tuesday night, three years ago and happy to say it is still well attended.

I am by no means speedy, but have a love for running and the benefits it brings to my life.  I have met so many wonderful, inspirational, kind people along the way and life long friends.

I love ORR and so grateful and proud to be its Chairperson .
